In winter 2023 I designed and built a chicken coop in my backyard alongside my roommates. I first designed the coop in Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD to experiment with different interior designs and create an accurate BOM. We built the coop using dimensional lumber, plywood, and corrugated steel roofing. We painted the metal roof, stained the wood, and used galvanized hardware to protect it from the outdoor elements. The coop was constructed entirely using screws so it can be eventually disassembled and passed on to the next owner. The coop is 4ft x 4ft, and the run is 10ft x 5ft. Our hens have been happily housed inside since February 2023!
