I worked at Tesla as a Mechanical Design Engineer developing interior trim components for an upcoming Tesla vehicle. I cannot share details of my work, but I can share my experience from this role.

I owned designs of user-facing parts for mass production using injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and foil wrapping. I worked extensively with overseas contract manufacturers during supplier selection, prototype, DFM, and engineering validation stages. I gained experience working with thermoplastics such as PCABS, PP, and TPE for single-shot and two-shot injection molding. I utilized my knowledge of materials and injection molded part design to lead a study into using 2k molding on large parts, resulting in a 15% overall decrease in piece price over foil wrapping. I created test plans, designed fixtures, and conducted FEA simulations and testing to validate my designs in collaboration with validation engineers. I refined my communication skills with diverse teams of industrial designers, manufacturing engineers, and supply chain managers to ensure proper aesthetics, Design for Assembly, and cost targets of my designs.
